And a Word about Comments...

There are a number of people hitting my site and subscribing to my feeds, but no one is leaving any comments on my posts.  I encourage everyone to comment, even if it seems trivial.  The main reason I've created this site is to interact and dialogue with others.  I'd love to hear from you!

The problem (especially for a new blog) is that comments for bloggers are like tips for buskers: people don't give unless there's already money in the hat. Musicians can put their own money in the hat to get things started; but bloggers can't (or shouldn't) pseudonymously comment on their own posts.

Furthermore, you have to consider that the majority of comments left on blogs are just that—casual comments, not serious responses. I have come to the hypothesis that (even on blogs) conscientious writing tends to intimidate readers into silence—as in newspapers the rants, not the reflections, bring in the letters to the editor.

Yes, people are naturally drawn to spectacle. A car-wreck always invites more attention than a flower.
